Tuesday begins overcast in much of the country. Southern and central regions are drizzly and across the north there are patchy outbreaks of rain.
As we head through the day showery rain pushes into northern and western Scotland, and it becomes very windy. Elsewhere it remains mostly dry and some bright spells develop. The best of the sunshine is likely to be in northern Wales, Northern Ireland and northern England.
Temperatures this afternoon range from about 10C (50F) in Scotland to 16C (61F) in southern and central areas. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight the showers steadily clear from northern Scotland and a mostly dry night develops. It will be quite chilly and in the north a touch of frost is possible.
Tomorrow looks like a fine early spring day for much of England and Wales with sunny spells developing widely. Temperatures could reach a very mild 18C (64F) in the south. Northern Ireland and Scotland have cloudier skies and outbreaks of rain push northeastwards.
During Thursday wet weather spreads across the north and west, but the south remains dry. Friday sees cooler and unsettled weather sinking southwards.
Forecast details for the weekend and beyond are uncertain. The latest guidance suggests high pressure will quickly build back in from the southwest, bringing drier and milder weather to southern and central counties. The north probably remains more unsettled.

The 16 day GEFS shows mild and often dry conditions early on. Through the middle of the period it becomes more unsettled but drier weather quickly returns to the south.
