Very mild and mostly dry

[Updated 08:15 10/03/2017]

Spring blossom

Friday begins dry in the south and east but in the north and west it is drizzly. In much of Scotland there are more persistent outbreaks of rain.

Through the course of the day light rain continues at times in the west. Elsewhere there should be a good deal of dry weather, but a few spots of rain are possible almost anywhere. There will be a lot of cloud cover, but some bright spells develop with the best of these in the south west during the afternoon.

Southern and central regions have a very mild day with temperatures reaching 14C (57F), but in Scotland maximum values will be close to 8C (46F). See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain pushes into the north west, and in Northern Ireland it becomes quite heavy. Elsewhere it stays mild and dry.

The weekend outlook is mixed but mild. Tomorrow outbreaks of rain in the west spread southeastwards, but they are expected to become lighter and fizzle out. On Sunday wet weather pushes eastwards and is followed by clearer skies in the west during the second half of the day.

Early next week it will continue to be very mild. High pressure should lead to a good deal of dry weather, but rain remains more likely in the north west. The second half of the week probably sees more unsettled conditions spreading southeastwards. Buzz looks at the prospects for the rest of March.
