Wednesday begins damp in southern and central regions. In the north the cloud is more broken, but heavy showers are affecting northern Scotland.
Through the course of the day patchy outbreaks of rain push across southern and central areas. Some heavier bursts are likely to be mixed in, especially in the west. Showers continue in Scotland and it will be very windy. The rest of the country has a good amount of dry weather.
Temperatures range from about 7C (45F) in Scotland to a mild 13C (55F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight there will be further showers in Scotland but elsewhere it should be dry. Northern areas become quite chilly but in the south it stays mild.
Tomorrow rain spreads across Wales and southern England. Elsewhere a mostly dry is expected with sunny spells in the north.
On Friday the wet weather heads northwards and drier conditions follow into the south. Cloud breaks in the south west could make it feel pleasantly warm in the afternoon.
As we head through the weekend all regions have showers or longer spells of rain. After a mild start temperatures drop back towards the average as a cooler air mass moves in from the west.
The latest guidance for next week suggests high pressure will have an influence on the UK's weather. This brings an increasing chance of dry periods.
The 16 day GEFS shows a mixed outlook but with dry periods at time. Temperatures take a dip this weekend and then stay close to the average.
