Thursday begins with mixed weather across the UK. Showers are affecting the north west, and in an area stretching from south Wales to North Yorkshire there are patchy outbreaks of rain and hill snow. Elsewhere it is dry but in the south it is windy.
This morning the wet weather pushes eastwards across central regions and drier conditions return from the west. To the north scattered wintry showers continue, and to the south it remains mostly dry with winds gradually easing.
Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in Scotland to 11C (52F) in the south west of England. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
This evening rain and hill snow push into Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Other areas have a dry start, but during the second half of the night outbreaks of rain advance eastwards across Wales and southern counties.
Tomorrow wet weather continues to affect Northern Ireland, and heavy rain in southern England steadily spreads northwards. Drier but mostly overcast conditions follow into the south.
During weekend it remains unsettled but it will be quite mild in southern and central regions. Through Saturday rain spreads northwards into Scotland and over the mountains it turns to snow. Drier weather returns to central and eastern England, but in the west heavy showers develop. On Sunday another band of rain is expected to move in from the south west. The 16 day GEFS show changeable conditions for much of the first half of March. At times it could be cold enough for snow in the north.
