Tuesday begins mostly dry in the north. Southern and central areas are mild and damp.
Through the course of the day wet weather spreads across western and northern regions. This afternoon the rain becomes heavy in places. The south and east of the country have dry periods, but some light rain is likely, especially this afternoon. Winds strengthen in all areas.
It will be mild with temperatures ranging from 9C (48F) in Scotland to 14C (57F) in the south. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
Tonight rain affects much of England and Wales. Clearer and colder conditions return to the north, and across Scotland the showers turn to snow over the hills.
Tomorrow Scotland has quite a cold day with wintry showers. In the southern half of the country it's a cloudy and mild picture with outbreaks of rain at times. It will be windy.
Thursday is looking very unsettled. Heavy bursts of rain spread northeastwards and it becomes stormy. Wind gusts could exceed 70mph in northern England and 50mph in the south. Over the Scottish Highlands blizzard conditions are expected.
Unsettled weather continues through Friday and the weekend. The south remains mild and temperatures in the north probably pick up too. Buzz looks ahead to the start of the meteorological spring.
The 16 day GEFS shows a very mild start but temperatures drop during the second half of the week. Through the rest of the period changeable weather is expected.
