Mild but rain for many

[Updated 08:50 15/02/2017]

Wet weather

Wednesday is off to a mild start in most of the country. Wet weather is affecting parts of the south but elsewhere it is predominantly dry.

Through the course of the day rain in the south west spreads northeastwards and at times it becomes heavy. The north east should remain dry and during the afternoon brighter conditions return to the south west.

Despite the wet weather it will be mild. Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in Scotland to 13F (55F) in the south west. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain continues in the north of the UK. The south becomes dry and clear periods lead to fog forming in places.

Tomorrow showers are likely in the northwest and there could be a few isolated ones in southern counties. There will be sunny spells too, especially in the south. It remains mild.

Through Friday and the weekend the general theme is for high pressure to bring a good deal of dry weather to the south and east, with Atlantic disturbances keeping things more unsettled in the west. It will be mild and during the days it could feel quite spring-like in areas where sunny spells develop.

Early next week temperatures could rise even further, but there are signs of colder and more unsettled weather returning towards the end of the month. Buzz investigates.
