The new month begins on an unsettled note but there are signs of a change. Today it's a wet start in central and eastern areas but drier conditions have returned to much of the west.
This morning outbreaks of rain push eastwards with drier conditions following on behind. A few bright spells develop but during the afternoon more wet weather arrives in the west and winds strengthen.
It will be mild with temperatures ranging from 6C (42F) in Scotland to 11C (52F) in the south west. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight the rain in the west becomes heavier and gradually spreads eastwards. It will be quite mild.
Tomorrow patchy but occasionally bursts of rain push eastwards. Showery conditions return to the west.
Through Friday and the weekend it stays unsettled with secondary areas of low pressure tracking across the UK. These bring the potential for heavy rain and strong winds. After a mild start temperatures dip and by Sunday it could be cold enough for snow in northern England.
Next week it's all eye to the east. High pressure looks set to build over Scandinavia and this will allow bitterly cold air to push westwards across continental Europe. Will it reach the UK? Buzz takes a look.
