The weekend is off to a wet start in much of the UK. In the north it is cold but across the south temperatures are higher than recent mornings.
During the course of the day wet weather pushes slowly northeastwards with clearer and showery conditions following on behind. Outbreaks of rain in southern counties are likely to be patchy, but in the north and west they will be persistent. Snow is probable over high ground in the north and possibly down to lower levels in Scotland.
Top temperatures range from a cold 2C (36F) in Scotland to a mildish 10C (50F) in the south. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
Tonight rain slowly clears from eastern Scotland to leave all regions with dry spells. There will be scattered showers and some of these may push eastwards across southern counties. In the north frost develops widely and even in the south icy patches could form as temperatures dip close to freezing.
Tomorrow Scotland and Northern Ireland have a dry and bright day. After a dry start elsewhere outbreaks of rain push into the south west and spread northeastwards. The rain is expected to become heavy and persistent.
Next week it remains changeable with all regions having spells of wet weather. Milder air in the south steadily spreads northwards. Buzz takes a look at the prospects.
