The weekend begins with a frost in much of the UK. The coldest weather is in the south with temperatures in Farnborough, Hampshire falling to -8C (18F) overnight.
Through the day sunny spells develop widely but it will become cloudier at times. Most places remain dry but in the south west a few wintry showers could break out and during the afternoon they push northwards into Wales.
Top temperatures range from 4C (39F) to 7C (45F). See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
Tonight frost rapidly returns to much of the UK and in southern hollows it is likely to be severe again. Wintry showers continue heading northwards across the western half of of the UK and possibly give one or two places a sprinkling of snow.
Tomorrow light showery rain and snow pushes into Scotland. Elsewhere there is likely to be more cloud than recently with the best of the brightness in the south and east.
The latest guidance for next week suggests a dry and chilly start. By mid-week high pressure becomes centred to the southeast of the UK and this allows milder air to start feeding in from the south west. It also gradually turns more changeable as disturbances moving in from the Atlantic begin increasing the risk of rain in the west. Despite this eastern regions may continue to have a good deal of dry weather through the second half of the week.

The 16 day GEFS ensemble shows rather cold weather in the short term. Next week it slowly turns milder and more unsettled with rain eventually reaching all regions.
