Sunday begins with wet weather across much of central and eastern Britain. In the west it is a drier picture.
This morning outbreaks of heavy rain push southeastwards and possibly turn to wet snow in the south east and East Anglia at times. In the north and west some drier periods are likely and during the afternoon the rain generally becomes patchier in all areas.
East Anglia and the south eastern corner have a raw day but elsewhere it will be milder than recently. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
Tonight further wet weather is likely in central regions. The south east may become mostly dry and if clear spells develop a touch of frost could develop by the morning.
Tomorrow wet weather affects central regions. In the west drier and brighter spells are likely and the south east may be mostly dry too. Central and eastern England will be quite chilly but elsewhere a mild day is expected.
Through the middle of the week central and eastern England remain quite chilly but elsewhere it will be relatively mild for mid January. As we head towards next weekend colder air probably begins to filter northwards but forecast confidence is low.

The 16 day GEFS ensemble shows rather cold weather in the south with milder conditions in the north west early on. During the last week of January the risk of rain and generally more unsettled weather increases.
