Saturday begins with outbreaks of light rain in the south but other areas are mostly dry. It is less cold than recent mornings but in a few northern locations clear spells have led to a touch of frost.
This morning the remnants of last night's rain clear away from the south. Much of the UK then has a good deal of dry and cloudy weather but a few bright spells develop too. In the west thicker cloud brings a few showery spells of rain.
Temperatures will generally be close to or slightly above the January average. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
Tonight central and eastern regions remain dry but it will be quite murky. In the west patchy spells of drizzle continue.
Tomorrow it's a case of rinse and repeat. In the west there will be drizzle but central and eastern regions should be dry.
Monday will see a change developing. A band of heavy rain reaches the northwest and pushes southeastwards through the day. This is followed by colder and showery conditions in the north with snow over higher ground.
On Tuesday the south should be mostly dry but in the north there could be some rain. Through the middle of the week it stays changeable but colder conditions are expected to push southeastwards across all regions. In the north there is an increasing risk of snow and even southern counties could see wintry showers.

The 16 day GEFS ensemble shows mild conditions early but towards the middle of the month it turns colder and more changeable. Beyond this temperatures it stays rather cold.
