Christmas Eve begins with windy and showery conditions in the northern half of the UK. In the south it's breezy but mostly dry.
This morning wintry showers affect the north but through the afternoon more persistent outbreaks of rain push in from the west. Southern and central regions stay mostly dry but cloud builds during the day.
Maximum temperatures range from about 4C (39F) in Scotland to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight outbreaks of rain spread across the north west and it will be very windy. Elsewhere a mild night is in prospect and there could be some patchy spells of rain.
Christmas Day begins very mild and overcast. In the north west outbreaks of rain become more persistent and winds strengthen further as Storm Conor tracks to the northwest of the UK. During the afternoon and evening wet and windy weather pushes southeastwards with clearer and colder conditions returning behind it. In the north showers develop and these could turn to sleet or snow in places to technically give a White Christmas!
Boxing Day looks mostly dry in the south but in the north a mix of sunny spells and wintry showers is expected. It will be quite chilly, especially in the north.

The 16 day GEFS ensemble show the weather turning unsettled in the short term but after Boxing Day drier conditions return. By the New Year colder and more changeable conditions are probable.
