Friday begins with outbreaks of rain in western parts of the UK but central and eastern area are mostly dry. It is quite mild.
Through the course of the day wet weather slowly spreads across northern regions, Wales and into south west England. Ahead of this in the south and east it remains dry with bright spells.
Maximum temperatures range from about 8C (46F) in the north to 11C (52F) in the south west. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight the rain in the north clears eastwards to leave all areas dry. As skies clear in the north it will become and a local frost is possible by the morning.
Tomorrow wet weather affects the north west of Scotland but elsewhere it remains dry. The north has a cloudy day but bright spells develop in the south. Through Saturday night and Sunday intermittent spells of rain continue in Scotland but elsewhere it should be dry.
Next week a transition to more unsettled and possibly stormy conditions develops. The details are uncertain but on Wednesday and Thursday there is a chance of it turning cold enough for snow in northern regions and possibly even over high ground farther south. As we head towards the New Year it may turn more settled as high pressure returns.

The 16 day GEFS ensemble show dry conditions early in the period. Through the Christmas period it turns more unsettled but by the end of the year drier conditions return.
