Mostly fine with good long sunny spells and only well scattered cumulus the whole day here as the showers did that "skirting by to my north" thing again. Actually, I told a lie, there was the most lightiest skimpiest of spitty shower at 10 am, one that lasted all of 4 minutes.
The only thing that prevented it from feeling too summer-like was that brisk wind which is keeping it bone dry around here.

I knew by levelling off and then putting grass seed on a large section of my lawn the other day would prevent any more rain coming this way!

Thunderstorm - shower past by here about 4:25-40PM. Saw some lightning flashes and CG bolt with some good audible thunder. Missed the deluge though but Harpur Hill got in on it.

Been a classic showery summers day here (if a tad cool), what this means for us is glorious sunshine

The convection is normally close by, close enough to hear the rumbles of the storms passing just few miles in land but on the coastal stretch it stays dry.

ANyway this little thing showed up as a tiny spec on the Met Radar but it was packing a punch, from the distance i saw several bolts of lightning including one in the rainbow :)

What a storm we in loughton have just had. Constant fork lightning. Hailstones the size of peas covering everywhere white and the most spectacular cloud formations like something out of the mid west. Torrential rain too.
Even after 20minutes the hail is still laying on my lawn. Air feels very cold.

Some jet black skies today - this was at Dorking where I was watching the Olympic women's road race.

First thunder I've heard this year, too.

Two storms during the night- thunder in the first was intense as was the torrential rain/ hail. Rainfall since midnight....33mm- on top of the 49mm yesterday and 3 storms then! Never had so many in such a short space of time! Perhaps the Bristol Channel is providing the moisture and fetch means the storms they hit the Somerset coast running!

Our action took place early in the morning with some decent surface based stuff coming out of the WSW from the sea, we even managed a crack of thunder and some small hail, but the convection gradually shifted toward the north as the land heated up. Towards evening, the flow turned slightly more to the WNW which allowed some of the stuff to the north to drift further south, and it happened just in time for sunset which lead to some amazing skies!

These shots are actually Jpegs straight out of the camera!!!
