Would like to know what the Tranfser budget will be, plenty not interested in the job which is surprising given there " History ".

The New Liverpool Kit is terrible also, god knows why they left Adidas, would imagine the Leisure Wear sales will be down also if the New Kit is anything to go by,

I disagree - I think he was worth something of that order.  He is a class act - as they say form is temporary but class is permanent.  Even when he was struggling he still put in the effort.

I hope he stays - especially if Drogba leaves.

If Fernando Torres is really worth £50m, I only wonder how much the likes of Pele, Maradona, Cruyff & Beckenbauer would have been worth at their peak under today's prices!

I would say that as far as current players go, Lionel Messi is worth that amount of money, for sure, but not Torres.

I would imagine Barca would want a lot more than £50M for Messi.

The Premier League is ruled by the economics of the madhouse and I don't know how any of these valuations make sense.  Even say £25M for a five year contract is £100k per week amortisation - assuming the player walks at the end, which is always a possibility. If he's earning another £100k per week, that's over £200k total cost to the club every week.  That's pushing £400k per home match, even allowing for a handful of CL matches.

None of the valuations make sense, football is in a world all on its own  It's like it has it's own currency that is 100/1 when compared to the pound - only then does it start to look acceptable!

You're right about Messi, I reckon Barca would want twice that  He wouldn't leave anyway.

For Jonesy who was asking why people have been harsh on 'Arry ....

I don't normally use material from other sites, but the following rant from a Spurs BB - and it's a damn fine one too - more than ably explains why.

I will also add, FWIW, that it was written by one of the mods.

"I cannot stand the sight of the bacon faced gobby coont, have felt like this since he gave an embarrassing lanky streak of p*** a Spurs shirt and then attempted to convince people he was a fookin michelangelo...... triffic this triffic that, hoof de fookin hoof....... Levy will always be held in very high esteem for giving me that wonderful feeling when I found out Spurs parted company with the worst bag of shite, injured fish, flaily (is that a word), baby giraffe like, cretinous, gangly, basketball player I have ever had to endure being palmed off as a footballer.

I will always be of the belief that there was something fookin fishy going on ....surrounding Crouch & Redknapp, maybe something tied up with agents/bonuses/bungs..... or even that Peter had photo's of Harry doing a spot of dogging in a pompey public bog or summat...... always always favoured the lamp post whenever he could.

-------------

Bank accounts with dog names, expensive briefs apparently clearing him of tax evation, mouthing it off about the fookers that pay his wages, calling us idiots, aged players getting the triffic treatment, steady & consistent players being mugged off/shipped out/benched while the coont muppets on about being short at the business end of the season, horrendous substitutions, no game changers, no fresh legs at 60-65 mins, whoring himself to the FA, playing the best left winger in the world in fecking goal pmsl, other players out of position, no plan B, the history of hoofball that needed fan intervention, the history with crouch that needed Levy intervention, cant read or write, has an empty tactics clip board hanging on the fecking wall, blew a potential 13 point lead & lost us qualification into the CL, passionately supports the pikeys, plays the feckin Wii & if reports of late are to be believed gets on Levys tits.

Couple this with the fact that

1) Liverpool have imploded & were out of the race.
2) Chelsea made a huge mistake with a gamble on an untried, untested manager & it blew up in their face, taking them out of the race too.
3) Arsenal had lost Fairygash & Nascar & were chanting for the managers head early doors & were feckin toilet prior to january.
4) Spurs are now far more superior to the team they were when we finished 5th fookin twice

I mean how easy does the saggy coont want it? ....... how much help does a manager need?

Imo ...... we should have looked under every rock & pulled out every stop to bring in a big hitting heavyweight manager & cut loose Redknapp with a respectful gold watch or a crystal fruit bowl, a pat on the back to say ta & a decent speech from him saying he has taken Spurs as far as he can & now he is handing it over to someone who can take them to where they deserve to be. Then he could fook off to Bournemouth FC & retire a well respected gentleman of the game with a thunderous applause from all Yids for the work he did.

Instead he is carving his name into the Guiness book of cockups & will end up in the stands somewhere in deepest dorset, with his collars up trying to hide in case anyone recognises him & says those words that cut him through to the bone

"Hello m8, Harry Redknapp isnt it? ..... didnt you used to manage a big club a few years back, nearly managed England too didnt you or summat"

redknapp has done a great job, but football is indeed a fickle world and it is true that spurs have fallen away and looked a shadow off the team that were challenging the two manchester clubs earlier last season. where tottenham really went wrong was sacking martin jol.

The AVB and LVG ( Louis van Gaal )  teaming up at Liverpool is gathering pace! Although I would of thought LVG would want to be on the touchline himself, only stepped in upstairs at Ajax to help out till end of season.

Chelsea have 40m euros bid for Lucas turned down. The Sao Paulo Lucas, not the Liverpool one.

Alot of money but then we are use to that at Chelsea lol, Would prefer him coming via Portugal tbh as our track record is good when they do.

I've not seen alot of him but from what I have he is like a Walcott/Sturridge, doesn't always get his head up and look ahead and can take ages to make a pass. But great potential.

We have a great young player in Piazon, hope he gets a run next season.

Joey Barton has been handed a 12 match ban following his red card against City, along with a £75,000 fine...

Totally agree there. Only thing I would say is that if it had been my decision, I would have given Barton a £750,000 fine and banned him from football for a full season. Given his previous poor disciplinary record, I honestly don't think that would have been excessive.

Yes but he claimed he was provoked, so he wasn't to blame.

Although strangely enough via Twitter on the day in question he said that he had not lost his head, but that a team-mate had suggested I should try to take 1 of theirs with me.

Seemed like a good idea then

There was some interesting analysis in The Times a few weeks ago which said Spurs were essentially performing above themselves earlier in the season and that their 'natural' position based on the team was, IIRC, just outside the Top 4.  The fact that despite the loss of form they finished 4th and very close to 3rd should be grounds for support for Redknapp.

But I recognise the fickle and sometimes illogical reactions of fans.

You wouldn't trust Dave Wheeliebin with a secret, would you?

FFS, he's like a retarded kid, falling over himself to blab to the meeja about any negotiations between Liverpool & Martinez.

What if Martinez decides not to take the job now? The next person Liverpool talk with is going to know they weren't the first choice. I'm just as livid at the Liverpool owners for not insisting on Martinez gagging himself until he'd made the decision. At best they've been naive in thinking Martinez wouldn't blab to the wi*an wa*ker.

And even if Martinez does decide to take the job, Wheelibin's already stolen Liverpool's privilege to announce it.

Anfield is like an Ealing comedy these days, and even two-bit, sh*tty clubs in two-bit, sh*tty towns like wi*an are trumping them.
