Oh dear if "less unsettled later especially in the south" is the best we can hope for (especially for those not in the south) it is a depressing first third of the summer.

Philip Eden on June.

"over the month as a whole cyclonic periods are likely to outweigh anticyclonic episodes."

"brief warmer interludes can be expected, most likely during the middle and latter parts of the month."

CET -0.1C Rainfall 120%

Mind you his May outlook didn't flag the very warm ending.

I owe a full apology to the Met, they actually got it "spot on" with the rain, despite my whinge last night!

Its almost stopped raining now after starting at 1140 this morning (as they predicted), with the first meaningful rain for 2 weeks (0.71inches) on the south coast.

I have been living in this part of ther world for at least 30 years and cannot ever recall the central heating being put on in June before!! It is normally off from late March to late September -Temp maxed at just 13C !! Still in a few days the nights will start drawing in again!

We used to get those before in here which we never use the heating when it get briefly unsettled and quick recovering to average or warmer days like Toronto for eg.  We getting Icelandic temps when it rain and no recovery with warm sunny days in between that why the houses/flats eventually get cooler and cooler each day.  Just wish when it rain here to be around high teens and then jump to low to mid 20's asap, not 10-14C in the rain and then 14-16C overcast dry days.
