Some quite prolonged thundery rumblings between 0845-1000 in the Crediton (Devon) area. One brief violent shower, with a squall.

It's yet another windy day here with gusts currently up to around 50mph. I'm getting a bit fed up up all the wind and rain.

Currently windy, cloudy and with some patchy rain. The temperature is presently a rather irrelevant 7.2°C.

Yet another revolting washout day Raining with a strong S.E. wind. Temperature once again lower than during the night at 5.8C compared to 7.2C at 4am.

Another 7.2mm so far taking the total to 63.8mm since the 23rd. A truly hateful period of weather

"At last the long spell of mild weather, with but a slight break on the first days of the year, has lasted since the beginning of December, has broken, and the long-wished for and natural winter weather has come"
Report from Cairney, Aberdeenshire in the Aberdeen Daily Journal, 6th February 1906

"The advent of spring will be less welcomed, owing to the fact that there has been no winter. It was the transition from severe conditions of frost and snow that used to make us long for the coming of the season of promise and primroses. Even the climatic conditions of 1921 seem to partake of the general topsy-turvydom."
Report from a Buchan Farmer in the Aberdeen Daily Journal, 9th February 1921

Incredible day - very heavy showers with exceptionally dark skies and thunder as well.

Second time I have had thunder this winter.

Yes mad isn't it, if it wasn't for the fact it feels very chilly and the trees have no leaves, one could be mistaken and think it was a summer storm! Dark, cold, thundery and wet here.......
