Last year was my warmest May on record with an average temperature of 13.0C. This May is currently on 12.8C, so I'm pretty certain that this year will better it.

And, if the CET goes up another four degrees this month I'll be happy as 12.5c was a good guess!

Thanks GW!  Your time and efforts are well appreciated.

So, could you perform one more miracle and end the month bang on 12.5c?  Just so I can revel in the top ten for a bit longer.

I'll second that Caz, a really great effort and very much appreciated.

I think you might be about spot on with your 12.5

Oooh, I don't know Ian. I think I'm too low now. It's gone up 3 degrees in one day according to Art's post and it looks like we have a few more days of these temps.  I think Lanky might have called it right again!

I'll be very happy if I stay in the top ten.

First thanks GW for your huge effort which bringing the data up to date.I rather think that Lanky's 13.00 will put him into the leading position at the end of May.

Yes, Roger I rather think Lanky will topple you this month. You're still in the running though and have another 7 shots at the goal.

Actually it's only Roger that you're after at the moment but by month end, we'll all be after you!

Yes a long way to go still but you and Roger have a good lead and will be hard to catch. With my track record I'm not much of a threat either and I'll be over the moon if I finish the year in the top ten.

Good luck to you both!  It's a good competition!

Very true - I will try and enjoy my 15 minutes of fame

Yesterday's daily Provisional CET was 19.4C which has bumped the monthly up to 12.64C

19.4C is some way off a month record but if borne out in the final figures is the warmest May CET daily mean since 1953

Well!  That's burst my bubble!  And it's been another hot one today. Still, I'm quite used to not guessing correctly and I am enjoying this weather.  We're just back from a holiday in Cuba and returning to the British weather wasn't such a shock - for a change.

Stonyhurst saw the highest mean temperature of the CET stations today. Somewhat unusual for that to happen during a countrywide heatwave. Mean temperature at Stonyhurst a very impressive (for May) 20.1C. This was down to the very high overnight minimum at Stonyhurst. Daytime maximums were similar across all three stations.

Overall CET mean today estimated at 18.7C. It was actually quite fresh down here in the south this morning. Much muggier further north.
