Very cold weekend with sleet or snow for many

[Updated  09:55 04/02/2012]
SnowThe cold weather will continue during the weekend and much of the country is likely to see some sleet or snow as a weather front pushes in from the west meeting cold air over Britain. Central and eastern parts in particular are likely to see significant accumulations of snow of perhaps 10cms or even more locally. In the west and south west rain is more likely, and further east some of the snow could turn back to sleet or rain before clearing away. If you intending to travel this weekend then check your local weather and travel information regularly. The cold weather looks like continuing into the early part of next week at least. If you're heading off further afield this winter to look for snow, remember to check our great new winter sports weather forecasts and winter sports weather risk graphs which cover most major European winter sports resorts. The weather risk graphs are also available for UK locations. Buzz will continue to have the latest news and views through the winter and spring.
